I approached this show unsure of what to expect. Initially, I couldn’t believe Colin Farrell was part of the cast in the original movie without an internet search. After hearing positive reviews, I decided to watch it. The show was dark, gritty, and Colin Farrell delivered an outstanding performance. This role is probably my favorite of Cristin Milioti. If you only know her from “How I met…” I highly recommend “Palm Springs,” then doing your own homework, and forgetting she was on TV at all. Cristin Milioti was delivering perfection in every episode, and I could almost forget all her previous roles – the mark of a great actor.
The show felt like an entire season of “The Sopranos” distilled into 8 episodes. The writing and character motivations were consistent. There were no “bad guys” for the sake of being bad; each character was driven by relatable motivations. While I would never condone their actions, I could empathize with their reasons.
The ending was raw and managed to evoke genuine emotion without resorting to shock value or a lazy plot twist.
Overall, this is one of the best shows I’ve watched, inspiring me to improve my own storytelling skills.
